Early engagement on Begbroke Innovation District

KMA were appointed by Oxford University Development (a joint venture between Oxford University and Legal & General) in 2021 to assist in the community and stakeholder engagement around the master planning of the Begbroke Innovation District, a major Cherwell Local Plan allocation, also known as PR8.

Our work began during Covid uncertainty and restrictions in 2021, then grew with the formal appointment of OUD’s masterplan team in May 2022. During July we held a variety of workshops and drop-in exhibition events that helped to explore the issues and opportunities, as well as introduce team members to the community.

Having listened to a very wide range of issues and suggestions, the OUD team have been studying the area closely, and developing initial approaches to a masterplan for the Innovation District, which is to include research facilities, housing and greenspace and leisure. The plan is anticipated to further evolve gradually as dialogue continues with various agencies and local stakeholders. A planning application is anticipated in 2023.

More details about the Begbroke Innovation District are on the OUD website at www.oud.co.uk.
