Making the connections

Founded in 2002, Kevin Murray Associates is an award-winning niche consultancy operating across the spectrum of planning, regeneration, urban design and community engagement.

Our philosophy is to help clients make progressive steps in creating stronger, more robust places and communities at different scales. We do this through an intelligent, reflective learning approach known as place momentum. We focus on an understanding of place and community’s distinctive attributes through research and perceptual analysis, fused with a deliberative consideration of how things may change in the coming decades.

Service offer

  • KMA work collaboratively with communities to co-produce intelligent visions, strategies and plans to guide change.

  • We work directly with communities to create place-specific plans that link to LDPs and champion local aspirations by capturing meaningful engagement, scoping issues & challenges and identifying funding streams.

  • We involve community organisations and sectoral groups (such as youth, environmental and business) to inform plans and work more effectively together.

  • KMA undertake our own urban design strategies and support the wider review and refinement of masterplans led by others.

  • We provide planning advice and strategy at different scales, from national, regional and city level, to neighbourhoods, streets and small sites.

  • KMA have established techniques for taking broad visons and strategies towards detailed action plans and delivery programmes.

  • We plan, curate and deliver a wide range of interactive engagement events – from workshops and charrettes, exhibitions and conferences, to site visits and study tours.

  • KMA undertakes independent research, sometimes alongside other research bodies, for national and local government, professional bodies and NGOs, communities and partnerships.
