Pre-application consultation completed for Oxpens new quarter

Consultation at Westgate, Oxford

Over 2021 and 2022, KMA planned and delivered a three stage engagement programme for the Oxpens neighbourhood site in Oxford, for OXWED LLP (a JV between Nuffield College and Oxford City Council). This included a mix of online and in person events as Covid restrictions eased, in July and November 2021, and then September 2022.

The techniques to explain and explore the proposed mixed use quarter included exhibitions, floor maps, models, site visits and questionnaires, supported by website information and feedback and extensive media coverage. The event participants have included residents and civic groups, students and academics, traders and businesses, tourists and shoppers, cyclists and houseboat dwellers, politicians and landowners.

The 2,000 plus contributions from this wide array of participants related to the mix of uses, access and safety, flooding and greenery, transport and connections, carbon and design character.

We thank everyone for their valued input and feedback over the three stages, which have helped inform the evolution of the Oxpens application scheme and the various stages that may follow.

A planning application from OXWED LLP is imminent, with more details available on oxpensoxford.uk.
