Fraserburgh Beach Vision & Masterplan

Fraserburgh, Scotland

Engagement | Community Co-Design | Vision & Masterplan | Urban Design

KMA led a multi-disciplinary team with RTU and WMUD to produce a masterplan & vision for the Fraserburgh Beach Area. Commissioned by Aberdeenshire Council in 2022, the purpose of the project was to deliver a plan for the beach by engaging with the local community, youth, and stakeholders and designing the new area through a series of co-design workshops open to all.

The masterplan has now been published and endorsed by the Banff and Buchan Area Committee, available to read by using the final report button below. An archive of the project and all other documents can be also accessed on the beach masterplan website.

Fraserburgh Beach is a key part of the history and future of Fraserburgh; therefore, making the space more accessible, fun, and active throughout the day and evening is critical for improving its use. As it is situated close to the town centre and next to the working harbour, the beach area aims to be a locale for leisure, entertainment, and play, prioritising the needs of the community year-round.

As this project develops, the design team will continue to work with the community and other organisations to seek out funding avenues and streams to help make the Fraserburgh Beach Vision & Masterplan a reality.
